Playa Platanitos is definitely off-the-beaten-track, but worth the drive. You will find a small bay of a beach with a few restaurants serving the catch of the day. This is the best place to try pescado zarandeado.
Playa Platanitos is less than an hour’s drive from La Penita, which makes it a comfortable distance to easily make it an excursion in half day. Then catch the nightlife back in Guayabitos.
Playa Platanitos is close to Playa Las Tortugas, so you can visit both in one trip.
Getting to Playa Platanitos
To get to Playa Platanitos from La Penita, you take the main Hwy 200 north. In Las Varas turn left onto Nay 16 and keep following that route past Zacualpan, Ixtapa de Concepción, and Otates y Cantarranas. The road, Nay 16, goes directly to Playa Platanitos.
Playa Platanitos is mostly frequented by Mexican tourists and locals because it is little known by foreign tourists.
